About Core Compass

Why Core Compass

AI is becoming extraordinarily capable. That makes understanding what we want it to do increasingly important.

Core Compass grew from the Personal Moral Compass, a framework for helping people recognize what matters to them, put it into language they recognize as their own, and make choices that reflect it. Higher education gave that work a new and urgent setting.

Core Compass helps students and educators develop the judgment to answer everyday AI questions for themselves, and turn those decisions into practices their AI can actually follow.
Our commitments

What we hold to.

The person stays the author. AI can ask, remember, compare, reflect, and draft. The person interprets, corrects, chooses, and claims.

There isn't one right relationship with AI. Different people, courses, disciplines, and situations may require different choices.

Learning matters more than completion. AI should help people become more capable, not do the learning for them.

Your Compass belongs to you. Privacy, consent, and participant control are design requirements, not afterthoughts.
  • The person stays the author
  • No one right relationship with AI
  • Learning over completion
  • Your Compass belongs to you
  • What you write stays in your browser
